Permanent Residents:
If you are a permanent resident of the Faroe Islands, we recommend that you create an SSL user account and book with it. To secure a fixed price, confirm your address with your p-number on your user account, before booking.

Important Notes:

  • Verify your address in the SSL user account before booking to ensure the best price and quality.
  • SSL does not refund the difference for overpaid tickets retrospectively, once ticket is used for travel.
  • You cannot book for other travelers who do not reside in the Faroe Islands. Non-compliance may result in losing the right to book at a fixed price.

Travelers without permanent residence in the Faroe Islands do not need to create an SSL user account but can book directly without logging in.

 

Booking Deadlines:

  • Route 7: Up to 1 hour before departure
  • Routes 56, 58, 66, and 90: Up to 30 minutes before departure
  • Route 36: Just before departure

After these deadlines, you can only buy a standby ticket, which does not secure you a seat on board. Those who book within the deadlines have priority to board the ferry, if they arrive on time.

 

Payment:

  • You pay for your ticket with a credit card. Card provider processing fees may apply, depending on what type of card is being used.
  • SSL users can deposit money into their account for payment.
  • You can store your credit card on your user account for easier payment.

 

Meeting Time - Vehicle:

  • Vehicles must be in the car lane at least 15 minutes before departure.
  • Ensure the license plate and vehicle size are registered correctly on the ticket.

 

Note:

  • If the vehicle is not queued on time or there is an error in the booking, SSL staff have a full right to reject the vehicle, and the ticket will not be refunded.
  • Vehicle reservations are only valid for the reserved vehicle and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

 

Meeting Time - Foot Travelers:

  • Foot travelers must arrive at least 10 minutes before departure and present a valid ticket when boarding.

 

Changes and Cancellation of Ticket:

  • Routes 7, 56, 58, 66, and 90: Changes and cancellations can be made up to 2 hours before departure.
  • Route 36: Changes and cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before departure.

Changes can be made on your SSL user account or via the 'edit booking' link on the order receipt. Tickets canceled within the specified time limit will be fully refunded to your SSL user account or credit card. Refunds to credit cards will be processed within a few working days. Contact your bank if you have not received a refund.

Tickets, that have not been canceled within the specified time limit or that have not been used, will not be refunded.

 

Cancellation by SSL:
If SSL cancels a departure, the ticket will be refunded to your credit card or SSL user account. You must then book for a new departure yourself. Monitor cancellations on our website ssl.fo and via the SMS system, which you can register for.

SSL does not reimburse expenses or loss of revenue due to delays or cancellations.

 

Other:

  • It is your own responsibility to ensure you book for the correct departure.
  • It is your own responsibility to ensure that the information in your ticket is correct.
  • It is your own responsibility to make necessary changes and/or cancel your ticket within the correct time limit, to receive a refund.

 

Emergency Vehicles:
If an emergency vehicle, e.g. ambulance, needs a space on the ferry, the last car in line has to give up their space for the emergency vehicle.
