How do I book a space on route 56?

Go to our website www.ssl.fo and click Booking in the top right corner. Complete your booking and pay by credit/debit card. An e-mail confirmation will be sent to you when you have completed your booking.

When can I book a space on route 56?

You can book 2 months ahead of your intended date of travelling and up to 30 mins before departure.

Can I book a return trip?

Yes, you can both book single trips as well as return trips.

Do I need to book a space?

No, you can get in the line for vehicles/passengers without booking. After the vehicles, that have pre-booked, have boarded, other vehicles can board the ferry.

We do, however, recommend that you book a spot as these vehicles/passengers have a priority to get on board.

Do I have to be a registered user?

No, you are welcome to book directly without logging in and pay with your credit/debit card.

Are there any advantages with being a registered user?

Yes, all registered users will receive a 15% discount.

How do I know if there is any space available on my intended journey?

The number of available spaces is listed in parenthesis next to the departure times.

Is there a waiting list?

No, there is no waiting list, but you can get in the queue for passengers, that have not booked.

Can I cancel a booked journey?

Yes, at the bottom of your receipt there is a link where you can edit your booking. From this link you can also cancel your journey.

Will I be refunded if I cancel a journey?

If the journey is cancelled at least 2 hours before departure you will get a full refund.

Can I change a booked journey?

Yes. At the bottom of your receipt, there is a link from where you can edit your booking. You can change the license plate, select a different departure date and cancel your journey. If you have booked with your SSL profile, you log on to your profile and make the changes on your user page.

I plan to travel with a rental car but I do not know the specifics of the car yet - how do I book?

You can make a preliminary booking and then edit your booking afterwards. At the bottom of your booking confirmation there is a link from where you can edit your booking and your license plate, once you know it. It is, however, very important that the license plate is correct before your journey - SSL staff have the full right to refuse you to board the ferry if the license plate is incorrect, and you will not get a refund.

If I do not show up will I get a refund?

No, if you don't show up in time, you will not get a refund.

Will I need to show my receipt when I board?

There is a QR-code on your receipt. A member of crew will scan the QR-code.

I haven´t received a receipt, what do I do?

Please check if you have written the correct e-mail when you booked or check your spam folder.

I haven´t booked, can I still turn up?

Yes, you can still turn up and get in line 2. We do, however, recommend that you pre-book a spot on the ferry since these passengers have a priority to get on board. If there is any space left, you are able to board and buy your ticket on board.

How do I know if my booking has been registered?

You will receive a receipt by e-mail when you have booked.

How do I know if my booking has been cancelled?

You will receive a confirmation e-mail when you have cancelled your booking.

Can I pay with an SSL card?

It is not possible to use your discount card in our booking system. If you turn up and buy your ticket on the ferry, you are able to pay with your SSL card.
