Busses Restarting Service From April 14th With Reduced Driving Plans

The public authorites lead by the Crisis council and the Finance ministry together with SSL are restarting a reduced editon of bus services from Tuesday April 14th. The procedure of travel with the busses has been approved by the chief medical officer on the Faroes.

During these Corona times there are vast challenges that the individual and all of us need to manage. As announced the authorites want to keep the public wheels turning and with a reduced request edition of our bus services we are aiming to start the public wheels slowly up again with transportation to and from work between villages and cities.

The reduced request timetable for bus services is ready to put into place and has been treated and reviewed in view of transportation to and from the islands and the central area. Furthermore efforts already put into place with the beneficial cooperation between SSL and Atlantic Helicopter Services which must at all times be able to maintain provisional  and essential transport to the outerlaying islands where most all inhabitants are elderly and secluded from normal amenities that the main area supplies.

In order to start bus servies up again it has been a necessity to get a vast supply of disenfectents from abroad. With at rational and lasting logistical solutions according to this matter the reduced bus service can start up again on Tuesday April 14th.

Concering arrangements of busses and passengers larger busses on selected routes will have 9 numbered seats available for each journey and the smaller busses on selected routes will hava 3 numbered seats available on each journey.  For the reduced request edition of the bus services all passengers must request their journeys at 19:00 by the latest the evening before they wish to travel. Passengers must give their name and telephone numbers when booking.  For this edition passengers must follow this request procedure:

• When requesting a journey please state your name, telephone number, where you want to travel to and from, and when you wish to travel
  • We need this information because if a passenger that travels with us contracts the Covid-19 decease we will speedily be able to distinguish travel of this passenger and contact other passengers on the same bus

Bus drivers will follow the procedures that the chief medical officer of the Faroes has approved. Passengers are requested to lessen the danger of infection by following all recommondations from the public authorities, more information on www.corona.fo

Precautions and safety measures are taken to guarantee that SSL has crew, bus drivers and other key figures avialable. If a key figure is contaminated everybody in the immediate environment must be quarantined and this can put all our ferries and busses out of operation for an unlimited time.

We still advise all passengers to limit their usage of public transport and only use public transport when absolutely necessary.

Routes that are restarting on Tuesday April 14th are the following:

• Route 100: Tórshavn – Vestmann
• Route 300: Tórshavn – Airport – Sørvágur
• Route 400: Tórshavn – Klaksvík
• Route 500: Klaksvík – Viðareiði
• Route 600: Skopun – Skálavík
• Route 700: Sumba – Vágur – Tvøroyri
• Route 701: Fámjin – Tvøroyri – Sandvík
