In May 2017 100 years have passed since the government bought Smiril from the Mortensen family. This was the start of Strandferðslan as we know it today. Strandferðslan will celebrate the day in the SALT house in Drelnesi on Friday May 19th between 12:30-17:30.
The schedule includes presentations, detabes and an exhibition about public transport on the Faroes. The first part of the event will be presentations and debates about the current situation of public transport and the latter part that will start at 15:00 will be an exhibition, music and observations. During this part we will serve layer cakes.
The following will present and debate: Hilmar Eliasen, Strandfaraskip Landsins´ CEO, Henrik Old, Transport Minister, Hans Pauli Strøm, Hagstova Føroya, Súsanna Sørensen, Visit Faroe Islands, and Olga Biskopstø, Útoyggjafelagið.
Jóannes Eidesgaard and Robert McBirne will provide observations about the exhibition.
This celebration will be the first big event in the SALT house that is just about refurbished as a culture building. Strandferðslan has created a 100-year logo which Strandferðslan will promote shortly.
Everybody is welcome to celebrate the day with us in the SALT house on Friday May 19th. The doors will open at 12:00 and Smyril sails in connection with the event from Tórshavn at 09:30 and return from Krambatanga at 18:30.
